The plan
Watch 7 of the best short adventure documentaries ever made by the river at Temple Island Meadows in Henley (the site of the yearly Henley Regatta). These meadows are located on one of the loveliest reaches of the River Thames. There will also be a pop up bar, a street food trader and fire bowls for marshmallows. These short films have won over 20 awards combined. There is also the option of canoeing to this event. More info on this below.
Food and Drink
There will be an award winning street food trader at this event selling delicious hot food including meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes. There will also be a pop up bar with hot whisky toddies, wine, beer, prosecco and soft drinks.
Fire bowls and Marshmallows
This event will be dressed with fairy lights, lanterns, and fire bowls. There will be delicious luxury marshmallows for sale to toast around the fire bowls including vanilla, salted caramel and strawberry and cream flavours.
The Films
Chasing Monsters (4 Minutes). A storm-chasing photographer journeys through Tornado Alley in search of the sublime and dangerous tornados that snap power lines and topple buildings.
My Big White Thighs and Me (24 Minutes). A story about womanhood, miscarriage, healing, loving your own skin & freezing your bum off in cold water.
Ocean Valour (19 Minutes). This film documents the journey of two lifelong friends and what led them to tackle the dark and mysterious beast that is the North Atlantic.
Bluehue (5 Minutes). A short film about the joys of year round naked swimming in the mountain lakes of Snowdonia, N.Wales.
Ascend (5 Minutes). This short film celebrates the indomitable spirit that keeps the thirst for adventure despite adversity. “If I don’t ride a bike, I will lose my mind.
Denali (7 Minutes). A film about photographer Ben Moon and his beloved dog, Denali. Winner of the Best of Festival and People’s Choice awards at the Five Point Film Festival.
The Passage (25 Minutes). The Passage is a story about growing up, growing old, and the wild places that define us.
Canoe to this Event
Canoe with Henley Canoe Hire from their base to see the films and then canoe back at the end of the evening. Just choose the combined film and return canoe adventure ticket option at check out. The meeting point is Henley Canoe Hire at 6pm. Each ticket includes one space in a double Canadian style canoe. Paddles, buoyancy aids and an instructor will be provided by Henley Canoe Hire. You will arrive at the cinema site by 7pm and then canoe back afterwards arriving back at Henley Canoe Hire around 10.30pm. We recommend that you bring a spare change of clothes with you in case you get damp along the way.
